Looking into organic laundry detergent ...

=
excerpt:
"Many of the chemicals that are used in commercially branded laundry detergents have no real purpose in keeping our clothes clean. They are merely added so that our clothes will appear whiter or brighter to our eyes. Over time, exposure to these chemicals can cause allergies to laundry detergents.

What are we, the consumers of household cleaning products, supposed to do? The answer is simple. We can start purchasing an organic laundry detergent.

The latest from Kayaro Soaps! Organic Lotions at Save The Arts, Facial Scrubs at LA Vendors Fest and Aglow Eco Living Bath Salts!

We are excited to share with you some of  the recent activities here at your favorite soap opera.

We continue to set up a table at Melrose Place Farmer's Market, on Sunday mornings, at least twice a month.  We love the atmosphere of the quiet little strip of organic goods!  We will not be there this upcoming Father's Day weekend, as we will be set up at The Los Angeles Vendors Festival!
The weekend long event looks to be a great way to do some shopping and lunch with the family.  The event has tons of vendors on hand, as well as a small army of food trucks! Tickets are $5.00, children under 12 get in free! Parking is $5.00 as well. The festival is a great way for us to kick off the summer season in full gear!

Last week we attended the "Save The Arts" benefit, a fund raiser aimed to help raise funds to keep art education programs alive in LAUSD schools. A coalition of teachers, parents and students led by LAUSD art teacher (and our our good friend) Suzanne Nichols hosted the benefit.

The event had performances by jazz dancer Chester Whitmore and “American Idol” season seven contestant, Michael Johns as well as charity auctions and vendors.  Our soap table was a big hit, and we made several new friends!  We gave 20 percent of our sales to Save The Arts as well, and hope to continue to help them keep art education alive and well in Los Angeles.  We were glad to be a part of the effort and thanks everyone at Save The Arts for their hard work!

In addition to that, we have been busy developing our bath salts, scrubs and lotions lines.  Our favorite blends so far are the zesty Energy Citrus and White Tea & Ginger. We have ventured into such delectable scents as Rose, Sandalwood, and Tahitian Vanilla.  We have begun working with Aglow Eco Living, a eco-friendly gift candles, and home accents crafter.

They have some of the most beautiful, hand decorated soy candles. The eco friendly company is working with us on a new line of bath salts, that will be packaged in beautiful designer bottles. Stay tuned for more information on that, and click on all the images to visit the various websites.  More news soon!

Kayaro Soaps first day at Melrose Place Farmers' Market!

Its been a great week for us here at Kayaro Soaps!  Since the year began, we have been setting up our soap shop.  After numerous rain delays, insurance policies dropped and re-instated, entry fees and various forms of red tape, we finally made our Hollywood debut!  That's right folks, Kayaro Soap Operas hit the streets of LA, as we attended our first farmers market!

Melrose Place Farmer's Market is fast becoming a local favorite, in one of the hottest spots in Los Angeles.  Nestled in-between Melrose Place, Melrose Avenue and La Cienega Boulevard, the farmer's market is held every Sunday from 10AM to 2PM.

I saw several early bird shoppers and morning walkers taking advantage of the freshly brewed coffee, juices, and amazing food on display!

We arrived early and set up our tent for the second time!  Hila braved the early morning clouds last week, but was rained out by noon and had to retreat.  We were prepared today, as we both set up early on a gloriously warm morning.

This particular location of Raw Inspiration's farmers markets is on a single street, and is a bit smaller than some of their other spots. It is in a superb location, and what it lacks in size it makes up for in customers.

We saw a light but steady flow of shoppers for most of the day, many of them stoping by and asking who we were.  When we said it was our first outing, they replied "We know, we are here every week and we have never seen you before!" We assured them they will be seeing more of us from now on, and we look forward to see you there too!

Our Harmony Fusion was a big hit, selling out quickly!  We may need to reorder some more lavenders as well, seems folks still love that scent!

The Cinnamon Apple is a interesting blend, folks either like it alot or hated it!  One shopper noted that she wasn't a big fan of fruit smells. She preferred flowers, I think she picked some Rose Flower soaps. Others seemed to go crazy over the Cinnamon Apple bars, another buyer stated "I want to eat them, they smell so good!"

In addition to our wonderful soaps, there are lots of great vendors at Melrose Place Farmers' Market.  Fresh brewed coffee, breads, vegetables, frutis, spices, chocolates, gluten free baked goods, and some of the best pupusas, tamales, and freschas around!  Definitely a nice way to have a Sunday breakfast while walking! The way all the vendors were giving out samples, you almost didn't have to pay to either.

All in all, it was a great introduction for us to Raw Inspirations and the Melrose Place Farmers' Markets.  We will announce all additional farmers markets that we will attend asap!

Look for Kayaro Soap Operas at Melrose Place Farmers Market every Sunday, from 10PM-2PM!
